The University of Tennessee at Martin football program hoped with the switch to OVC-Big South Football Association action that its road woes would be left in the rearview mirror, but a trip to Association foe Lindenwood resulted in another 30-14 setback.
The Skyhawks struggled to find their footing in the contest with a pair of scoreless quarters before finding the endzone in both the second and fourth periods. A 17-yard touchdown run by Jase Bauer tied the game up early in the second quarter before Lindenwood came out of the half and pushed its margin out to as large as 23 points. With the final seconds ticking away, the Skyhawks were able to execute a two-minute drill and find the endzone once again as Shawn Hardy II tapped a toe in the endzone to cut into the final margin.
Head Coach Jason Simpson commented on the loss.
UT Martin returns to action on Saturday when playing host to OVC-Big South foe Western Illinois for the program’s annual Homecoming contest.
