McCracken County Humane Society and Bissell Pet foundation have teamed up and are discounting all pet adoptions until October 15th in hopes to alleviate overpopulation in the facility.

The discount is part of an event called “Empty the Shelters” by the Bissell Pet Foundation, to help pets find families across the country by funding discounted adoption fees.

Channel 6 reports that all adoptions are $70, for dogs and cats. Every dog and cat adopted at the event will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and fully vaccinated.

McCracken County Humane society is currently over capacity with over 200 dogs right now and only 84 kennels.

Those interested can also take advantage of the “Foster to Adopt” where the facility will let you take home an animal for five to seven days to see if they are right for your home.

The event will run through October 15th, with the McCracken County Humane Society open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
