The United States Senate has confirmed Mike Dunavant as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

Dunavant was nominated by President Donald Trump in July to serve as the chief federal prosecutor.

He served in the position for Western Tennessee during President Trump’s first term in Washington.

Dunavant previously served as district attorney general for the 25th Judicial District, which covers Tipton, Fayette, Hardeman, Lauderdale and McNairy County.

Following the confirmation, Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn said Dunavant was an experienced prosecutor who would hold criminals accountable, restore law, and would work to make Memphis and all of West Tennessee a safer place to live.
