Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Obion County

Obion County Mayor Steve Carr and General Session Judge Jimmy Smith, joined by The Wo/Men’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program, signed a proclamation declaring October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Obion County.

Mr. Purvis also gave statistics on domestic violence in West Tennessee.

WRAP was founded in 1975 as a volunteer-led rape crisis hotline in Madison County. Since its founding, it has expanded to serve survivors of both sexual and domestic violence, as well as supporting children and families through the Relative Caregiver Program.
