In their first meeting in 47 years, Friday night’s Obion County Central at South Fulton football game proved to be a classic.
In a game played in front of one of the largest crowds in South Fulton football history, the Red Devils took advantage of key turnovers and a special teams play in the second half to win 28-22.
The Rebels took advantage by recovering a Red Devil fumble on the games opening kickoff.
A touchdown in the games opening minutes, along with a stingy defense, allowed Obion County Central to hold a 7-0 lead at halftime.
South Fulton countered in the second half, taking a late 28-15 lead following a Rebels fumble.
The Rebels cut the lead to 28-22 with 2:56 to play, but their final offensive series was ended by a South Fulton interception.
South Fulton improved to (7-1) on the year, while Obion County Central saw their record evened at (4-4).
