Westview Soccer Advances to Regional Finals

The Westview Lady Charger soccer team’s season will see a minimum of two more matches on the strength of a 9-0 win over Harpeth in the first round of the region tournament.  Westview outshot the Lady Indians 17-1 in the first 40 minutes.

The shutout was the seventh of the year for the Lady Chargers, and their second in a row. And history was made as senior Maddie Horton scored her 100th goal of her high school career.

Ashlee Brent started the scoring with a breakaway five minutes in.

Maddie Horton scored the first of her four goals one minute later when Hayden Markowski set the table in the front of the net.

Markowski would once again find an open teammate in Chanler Spendlove  to take a 3-0 lead 12 minutes into the game.

Horton would go back to back in the 14th and 16th minute, and Markowski scored off a corner kick in the 19th  minute to take a commanding 6-0 lead into the break.

The second half was more of the same with Brent notching her second goal before Horton scored her 4th of the match.

Sophomore Kaydance Papich hit a left footed squeaker in the 58th minute to evoke the mercy rule and end the contest.

Westview improved to 12-3-1 and advances to the region finals, where they will play district foe Huntingdon, who knocked off Cheatham County 3-2.     First touch is 6:00 pm at the Martin Soccer Complex for the right to host the section final on Saturday.
