Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced Monday that over $9 million will be reallocated senior meal programs.
This comes after the expiration of the Federal American Rescue Plan Act, and a 60% funding cut to senior meals programs across Kentucky earlier this month.
The cut left centers like Paducah-McCracken County and Murray-Calloway County to reduce weekly meal deliveries from five days to two.
The Federal American Rescue plan act, oversaw eight senior centers in western Kentucky including McCracken, Graves, Marshall, Calloway, Ballard, Carlisle, Hickman and Fulton counties.
According to Governor Beshear’s office, the funds come from a $25 million General Fund appropriation, originally set aside for Medicaid reimbursement efforts in fiscal year 2026.
