About 250 Dresden residents and others came to look and see what was in the Bicentennial time- capsule Saturday afternoon but were slightly disappointed.
After waiting 50 years Dresden Public Works tediously resurfaced the capsule only time find a lot of groundwater that made difficult to salvage some items.
However there were some items still intact including a cassette and reel to reel tape, along with some pictures, a plate, a newspaper and coins but still of mud.
Hopes are that when they dry out many other items may provide hopes to salvage numerous pieces.
Mayor Mark Maddox said it was a great day for Dresden and for a large turnout for the day capping off a fireworks display. Mayor Maddox told the crowd that soon Dresden will have a new time capsule for the
Semi-quin-centennial or 250 years at 275 years.
