A man accused of killing four people in Lake County will now be moved to a state prison.
Action News 5 reported Lake County Judge Mark Hayes stated Austin Drummond will be moved to the state prison while he awaits his next trial.
Drummond appeared in court on Monday on charges issued before he was released from prison in Tiptonville.
Judge Hayes said Drummond posed a significant behavioral and security risk due to his previous actions while in prison.
During his stay at the Obion County Jail, Assistant District Attorney Andrew Hays said Drummond has had some disciplinary issues with the possession of Suboxone strips, and issues with covering his cell door with various things, including feces.
Hays said the motion to relocate Drummond was made on behalf of the Lake County and Obion County Sheriff’s departments due to issues with Drummond’s behavior.
Although it is not known the exact location, Drummond will be relocated to a prison within the Tennessee Department of Correction until his May 7th trial.
His defense attorney, Drew Farmer, expressed displeasure with the move, saying Drummond was a pretrial inmate who is presumed innocent and has not been found guilty by a jury.
Farmer said it was not known where Drummond was being relocated, adding that the issue could cause challenges for scheduled meetings and preparation for upcoming trials.
Obion County Sheriff Karl Jackson and Jailer Mitchell Maynard took the stand during Monday’s court proceedings to talk about the actions of Drummond.
Drummond is facing the death penalty in the shooting deaths of Cortney Rose, Adrianna Williams, Braydon Williams and James Matthew Wilson on July 29th in Tiptonville.
