The Union City Energy Authority and Tennessee Valley Authority have awarded a grant to a Union City High School class.
School Communications Director Mike Hutchens said the $7,000 grant will be used in Dan Burhnam’s technology and coding classes.
Through the Community Care Fund, the Energy Authority and TVA presented the financial gift to Burnham and Career and Technology Director Michael Paul Miller.
Union City Energy Authority CEO Kyle Ross said Burnham was an asset to the young minds of today.
Ross said the Energy Authority and TVA use the daily skills taught for programming protective devices in substations, monitoring of line equipment, fiber communications and many other departments in their companies.
