Approximately 75 community members attended a special called Martin City Board Meeting last night at the Martin Municipal Building where acting Mayor David Belote held an open forum to allow residents who share their concerns about City Hall.
The meeting was originally planned for the resignation of Mayor Randy Brundige and discussion on Economic Community Development Director Brad Thompson. Both resigned before the meeting began.
Attendees spoke their piece on the current state of Martin’s government and how best move forward as a city.
New alderman Jacob Crowe called for the resignation of acting Mayor Belote, Terry Hankins and Danny Nanney. There was no vote since there was only one agenda item.
Acting Mayor Belote said he would step aside but not at this time. Alderman Haskins said he would finish his term and not seek reelection. Alderwomen Celeste Taylor filled a seat on the board and recently Lynette Wagster filled the seat that was vacant who round out the six members of the board.
