According to the National Fire Protection Association, December is the leading month for house fires in the U.S. with 48 percent of home structure fires and 35 percent of home fire injuries.
Christmas Day and Christmas Eve represent the second- and third-leading days of the year for home cooking fires, with Thanksgiving taking first place.
