Arrest Made in November Shooting Death in Union City

The Union City Police Department has announced an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting on November 23rd.

Police Chief Ben Yates said Jamarquay Tirik Hockett was taken into custody on Sunday.

Hockett was charged with one count of first degree murder and five counts of aggravated assault.

The charges stem from the November 23rd early morning shooting at the Volume Lounge on Railroad Street, where 23 year old Omariyon Harper died from injuries received.

Five other individuals were also injured during the shooting.

Chief Yates said investigators had worked tirelessly to identify and arrest the individual responsible for the incident.

The Chief said they were grateful for the assistance and cooperation from individuals in the community involving the case, with the investigation still ongoing.
