Storms Cause Damage on Thursday in Ken-Tenn Area

Very strong winds moved through the Ken-Tenn area Thursday afternoon, causing damage in several locations.

The National Weather service released a Special Weather Statement indicating local counties could see winds of 50-to-55 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service also issued a Tornado Warning for parts of Ballard and McCracken County.

The Gibson Electric Membership Corporation said the strong thunderstorms, which included straight line winds, caused significant power outages in Lake and Obion County, with smaller outages in other coverage areas.

In Tiptonville, Gibson Electric was dispatched to three 3-phase poles which were broken during the storm.

In Obion County, Emergency Management Director Danny Carr told Thunderbolt News about damage sustained in South Fulton.(AUDIO)
