Election Petitions Available Now For 2026

Candidates for most offices across the state including Weakley County and other counties are heating up just before Christmas.
Weakley County Administrator of Election Alex Britt said a number of petitions have already been requested on the first day to seek office.
Every office in Weakley County is open for election including County Mayor, Trustee, Register of Deeds, County Clerk, Circuit Court Clerk, Sheriff, Road Supervisor, all 18 County Commission members and nine Constables.
Weakley County School Board members in District 2, 4, 6 and 8 are up for election. They include Gleason, Sharon and two Martin precincts.
The only elected official that is not up for re-election is Assessor of Property which will be two years out.
If you plan to seek the office of Mayor or the Sheriff’s office, candidates must be 25 years of age.
The deadline to qualify to be on the May ballot is February 19th, 2026.  There is no cost to pick up a petition to seek an office.   The office will be closed the 24th, 25 and 26 and January 1st.
