Former Dyer County Corrections Officer Sentenced to Federal Prison

A former correctional officer for the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office has been sentenced to prison.

West Tennessee United States Attorney D. Micheal Dunavant announced a sentence of ten years in federal prison for Tyrell Wallace on charges of distributing narcotics at the Dyer County Jail.

Court information showed investigators stopped Wallace, as he reported to work on October 24th of 2024 at the Dyer County Jail.

During an administrative search, investigators recovered multiple items inside of Wallace’s waistband.

Items seized during the search included 53 grams of 100-percent pure methamphetamine, 165 grams of marijuana, 26 grams of fentanyl, three grams of crack cocaine and a cell phone.

A search of Wallace’s vehicle also led to the recovery of a .9mili-meter handgun and 40 rounds of ammunition.

A search warrant for Wallace’s cell phone also revealed two previous deliveries of controlled substances to the jail.
