Morehead Hot Shooting Too Much For Skyhawk Women

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team ran up against a Morehead State team that made 12 3-pointers and went 13-for-14 at the free throw line, as the Eagles defeated the Skyhawks, 67-49, Thursday night at Johnson Arena in Morehead.

Morehead State got off to a fast start in the game, outscoring UT Martin, 25-12 in the first quarter. However, in the second quarter, it was the Skyhawks that outscored the Eagles, 17-15, and ended the half on a 13-2 run.

With 7:54 left in the fourth, Norah Clark hit a 3-pointer that cut the lead to six at 52-46. However, from that point on, Morehead State ended the game on a 15-3 run and did not allow another field goal after Clark’s basket.

Zy Thompson and Kenley McCarn both reached double-figures in the game, with Thompson scoring 16 and McCarn scoring 13. Sidni Middleton notched a team-high six rebounds, as did Brittani Wells, to go along with five points, five assists and three steals.

The Skyhawks return to action Saturday when they travel to Southern Indiana to take on the Screaming Eagles at 5 p.m. in Evansville.
