Hundreds of miles of salt brine has been sprayed by T-DOT trucks in the Ken-Tenn area in prep for this evenings winter storm.
Salt brine is a mixture of salt and water used to pre-treat roads before freezing rain and snow on roadways when temperatures around freezing.
T-DOT’s primary focus is on interstates and heavily traveled state routes such as Highways 22, 45, 79, and Highway 51. It’s the first time in years that all 95 Tennessee counties are expected to get heavy precipitation. The heavy snow is scheduled to begin at 6 this evening and conclude 6pm Sunday.
