Union City Fire Chief Talks About Dangers of Carbon Monoxide and Fire During Cold Weather

Winter time forecasts for snow and very cold temperatures always creates concerns for Union City Fire Chief Karl Ullrich.

The Chief said carbon monoxide, which is often referred to as the “silent killer”, is always a concern when using alternative heating sources.(AUDIO)

 

Chief Ullrich said the frozen precipitation and cold temperatures also increases potential for residential fires.(AUDIO)

 

Chief Ullrich said homeowners will resort to many different means when the issue includes staying warm.(AUDIO)

 

All homeowners are urged to have carbon monoxide detectors installed, which detects the deadly odorless and tasteless gas.
