The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a checkpoint in Obion County.

Highway Patrol reports said a sobriety checkpoint will be held this Saturday on U.S. Highway 45-East near McConnell.

Troopers will be checking motorists for the possibility of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, while also taking corrective actions for other violations observed.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol recognizes that sobriety checkpoints are highly visible and effective tools in the battle against impaired driving.

Impaired driving is a serious crime that kills more than 16,000 people and injures 305,000 others every year in the United States.
