Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee is seeking more Education Freedom Scholarships to 40,000 slots this year; however some lawmakers from both parties are seeking more transparency about how the current voucher system is working before they’ll consider the $300 million expansion.
The Tennessee Department of Education does not make public any data on how many program participants left public schools to join private schools.
Thus some lawmakers want to know more about who’s getting the vouchers. .
