UTM’s basketball squads split in double header action on Valentine’s Day at SIU Edwardsville.
In the women’s game, UTM struggled in the first half to score, tallying a total of just 14 points in 2 quarters as they trailed the Cougars by 20. The Skyhawks fought back after intermission, but ultimately couldn’t overtake SIU Edwardsville and fell 62-52.
In the night cap, the men led going into the half 44- 32. After the intermission, the Cougars returned with a fire lit under them by a raucous home crowd and pulled ahead. However, the Skyhawks showed their grit by rallying in the final minutes to reclaim the lead and win against a very tough opponent 81-76.
