The Graves County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a South Fulton man for attempting to pass counterfeit money.

Sheriff Jon Hayden said an investigation led to charges against 57 year old Richard A. King.

Officers from Graves County, South Fulton and the Obion County Sheriff’s Office took King into custody on a warrant charging him with criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Sheriff Hayden said the charges stem from King attempting to pass counterfeit bills at a business in Water Valley on February 13th.

When the bills were detected, King fled the store and drove away in a vehicle with no license plate.

The Sheriff’s Office report stated King is also facing similar charges from other jurisdictions.
