The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security responded to thousands of calls during Winter Storm Fern.
This is only the third time in history that the TBI activated the 1-800 TBI-FIND hotline to coordinate disaster-related family reconnection efforts.
Through the use of the hotline, THP Troopers, OHS Special Agents and other partners conducted 86 welfare checks.
Statewide from January 24th to February 5th, Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to 9,099 total phone calls to the THP asking for assistance, over 3,500 motorists requesting assistance, over 1,200 crashes involving property damage and almost 300 crashes involving injuries.
They also assisted with 545 abandoned vehicles, 455 roadway obstructions, 16 vehicle fires, and 7 fatalities.
