A University of Memphis women’s basketball player is facing felony charges after her arrest early Monday morning.

22 year old Paris Gaines was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly threatening another woman with a gun.

Gaines is a junior forward from Orlando, Florida, who began her college basketball at the University of Kansas.

According to Memphis Police, officers responded to an aggravated assault call in the 600 block of Tiger Estate Cove.

At the scene, three female witnesses told police that a friend of theirs knocked on their door saying she had been jumped by Gaines.

The witnesses said they went outside and saw Gaines standing in front of her apartment armed with a gun.

A search warrant later led to the seizure of a Taurus handgun from Gaines home.
