Union City added Greenfield to its list of tennis conquests on Wednesday, blanking the Jackets in both boys’ and girls’ play at the Middle School courts.

School Communications Director Mike Hutchens said the much-improved Tornado boys improved to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in District 14A with their 7-0 triumph over a Greenfield squad that had just two players.

The Twisters lost just one game in three matches and were credited with four forfeit wins due to the Jackets limited roster.

Union City’s girls had to work a little harder in their victory, but still remained unbeaten (7-0, 4-0).

Emma Jane Rice and Briley Kate McKinney each posted shutout singles victories, while McKinney and Allie Vincent teamed to win 8-0 in doubles play.

Union City is back in action Thursday afternoon with a home match against Huntingdon starting at 4:00.
