Channel 7 WBBJ reports that an escaped inmate from Crockett County Jail has been captured.
A manhunt started early Saturday morning with the successful capture of fugitive Gerald “Pete” Samples.
Samples was taken into custody after an extensive search operation involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
TDOC officers, along with their K-9 Kally, located samples hiding in a wooded area on Peter Smith Gravel Road in Humboldt.
According to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department, Samples awaits charges out of Virginia for illegal online sexual activity involving a minor victim.
Samples is currently incarcerated and awaiting extradition to Virginia.
