A pair of Union City doubles tennis teams qualified for the Class 1A TSSAA State Tournament on Monday.
School Communications Director Mike Hutchens said Allie Vincent and Josie Ross teamed to win the 14A girls’ title with victories over Lexington and Camden, while the Union City boys team of Kobe Kirk and Byron Abbott defeated teams from Bolivar and Westview to claim the boys’ championship at Bethel University.
The boy’s and girl’s doubles tennis teams will now advance to the Class A State Tournament, set to begin May 14th at the Champions Tennis Complex in Chattanooga.
In the opening round of the State Tournament, Vincent and Ross will face the champions from Region 4, while Kirk and Abbott will meet the Region 5 champions.
