A Union City High School senior has signed to participate in competitive cheerleading at Middle Tennessee State University.
School Communications Director Mike Hutchens said Ca’Lae Ervin received an invite to join the Middle Tennessee State program that combines traditional cheerleading, tumbling, and STUNT skills.
She was offered a spot on the team after attending a clinic/tryout in March.
According to spirit coordinator Brooke Legens, Ervin will receive a scholarship after summer training, and will be one of 26 girls on a squad that performs at athletic events and in competitions against other Division 1-A schools.
Last year the Blue Raider squad finished 12th in the nation.
Ervin said her long-range plans and study path have her eyeing a career as a neonatal nurse.
