Governor Bill Lee announced Chief Legal Counsel Erin Merrick will leave the Governor’s Office in early July after serving in multiple roles over more than seven years
During her tenure as one of the longest-serving members of Lee’s team, Merrick has been instrumental in the selection of four Tennessee Supreme Court justices, in addition to numerous appellate and trial judges across the state.
She directed the administration’s clemency review process, resulting in more than 160 clemency grants, and other matters.
Merrick will be replaced by Alexa Witcher who has been appointed to serve as Chief Legal Counsel to the Governor.
