State Comptroller Addresses Lake County Financial Issues

Tennessee Comptroller Jason Mumpower addressed  Lake County’s County Commission this week to discuss severe financial challenges.

Mumpower’s speech to the board included a warning that its fiscal stability and the future of their services, including the Lake County School System, were at risk.

Highlighting the county’s annual financial report ending June 30th of 2025, Mumpower said 11 audit findings were found in the General County Government, Sheriff’s Department and Ambulance Department.

The Comptroller explained a major finding from the Office of the Director of Schools.(AUDIO)

The Comptroller said the time had come for tough decisions to be made.(AUDIO)

 

Mumpower said options for the county could include forming a metropolitan form or government, or consolidating with another county.
