The Weakley County Finance, Ways, and Means Committee met on Tuesday morning to discuss ways of balancing the county budget.
Currently, Weakley County is looking at a $3.6 million deficit and commissioners are looking for ways to balance the budget.
The first proposed idea was to raise property tax by 25 cents and wheel tax by $35, but Commissioner James Westbrook proposed using more money from debt service, which could possibly remove the wheel tax and keep the property tax increase at 25 cents.
The FWM Committee voted to table the tax discussion to further explore the debt services option. Another meeting will be held on Monday at 1 at the Weakley County Board of Education.
