Fresh off a TSSAA Class A State Runner-up finish in 2024, the Lady Chargers opened the 2025 campaign with a convincing 7-0 victory over Dyersburg Tuesday night at the Martin Soccer Complex. Offensive efficiency was on full display. Westview (1-0) fired 23 shots on goal, with over half of them on frame.
Senior Maddie Horton scored her first of two goals at the 32′ mark, with classmate Chanler Spendlove adding a goal three minutes later. Senior forward Hayden Markowski finished the first half scoring with a goal of her own.
The second half picked up where the first ended when junior Ashlee Brent drained a free kick from 30 yards out to extend the lead, six minutes into the half. Horton and Markowski both added their second goals in minutes 59 and 79, while sophomore Brea McGuffin scored in the final minutes to give Westview the solid victory.
Last season, the Lady Chargers pitched 12 shutouts, and that was the case again with Dyersburg managing just five shots in the contest.
Westview will return to action Thursday night against Jackson Christian. First touch is slated for 6:00 pm at the Martin Soccer Complex.
