The Westview Lady Chargers moved to 2-0 on the season with a win over the Lakeland Prep Lady Lions in front of 257 fans at the Martin Soccer Complex Sunday afternoon.     The two teams have faced each other three times in the last 12 months.  The most recent came in the quarterfinals of the 2024 TSSAA Class A State Tournament in October where the Lady Charges won 4-0.

Scoring started quickly when Maddie Horton was taken down in the 18 yard box, drawing a penalty kick.  Chanler Spendlove was selected to take the shot, and she calmly placed the ball in the back of the net for an early lead.   A few minutes later, Hayden Markowski made an excellent cross from the right side that Spendlove collected, giving the home team a 2-0 advantage.  Edourne Martinez split two defenders with a pass to Horton for a score, and Horton found Ashlee Brent six minutes later for another.  Horton scored again giving Westview a five goal advantage, before Lakeland Prep netted two goals in the last eight minutes of the 1st half.

Westview led at the break, 5-2.

Five minutes into the second half, Horton found Brent again, and Harper Jones finished out the scoring in the last nine minutes of the game on a penalty kick, and the Westview defense shut out the Lady Lions in the second half for a final score of 7-2.

The Lady Chargers will travel to Dyersburg Tuesday night to face the Lady Trojans.
