Union City reached the 20-win mark in a season for the first time in its volleyball program history with a 3-0 blanking of Bradford on Thursday evening.

The Tornado girls (20-4) wrapped up their regular season by outclassing the Lady Devils 25-4, 25-9, and 25-6 to complete a (13-1) district slate.

Union City will open postseason play on Monday at home as the No. 2 seed in the 13A Tournament, playing No. 7 Humboldt at 6 p.m.

The Lady Twisters will celebrate ‘Pink Out’ Night, encouraging all fans to wear pink in honor and memory of those who’ve battled breast cancer.

A victory Monday night would send Union City into Tuesday’s semifinals at 7:00 at Gibson County High School. The district championship match is set for next Thursday night at 6 at Gibson County.

The Lady Tornadoes made quick work of Bradford for the second time this season in their regular season finale – committing just 15 errors while dominating three quick sets.

“I was proud of all of the girls coming in and taking care of business the way they should,” UCHS head coach Jessica Graham said afterward.

Gracie Sims had nine kills and seven aces – both game highs – to lead the Purple and Gold. Clare Atwill matched Sims’ service totals, while Madie Theobald had 14 assists, four aces, and three saves.

Crickett Washburn and Addison Carr recorded five kills each, and Ca’Lae Ervin and Kumya Liphford added three apiece.

Union City will open postseason play on Monday, looking to advance to the state tournament for the fourth time in program history and second year in a row.
