Deadly Tornados In The Area

Six people were killed across the state and others hurt following a tornado Saturday that caused catastrophic damage to homes, factories and infrastructure in Dresden, Rutherford and Middle Tennessee.

In Weakley County, at least two homes were destroyed on Summers Road in Dresden, while Champion Homes on Evergreen Extended was heavily damaged inside.

The tornado also destroyed several commercial air conditioners which were lifted up from the roof of the Ned McWherter National Guard armory.

On Summers Road near Dresden two residents were inside their home , taking cover when the tornado blew through the area.  They were taken to the hospital when the tornado destroyed their home .

WCMES worked through the night restoring power to rural customers.  Gibson Electric at one time had 4500 customer without power.

Three residents from Montgomery County and three from Nashville were killed.

The Rutherford community was also hit hard with power lines down and several homes were destroyed.

The National Weather service reported at least of dozen tornadoes caused havoc in both Tennessee and Kentucky.
