The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that Matt Carpenter is returning to the team.
Carpenter signed a one-year free agent contract to return to the team that drafted him in 2009.
In 11 years with St. Louis, Carpenter was a three time All-Star, played on two World Series championship teams, and three times earned votes for the National League “Most Valuable Player”.
Over his 1,452 game career, Carpenter has a .260 batting average with 175 home runs, 644 RBI’s and 1,225 hits.
