UT Martin women’s basketball season ended last night in Iowa City with a 72 to 45 loss to Holy Cross in the NCAA First Four at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

UT Martin shot an uncharacteristically 26 percent from the field shooting 16 for 61 while the Crusaders made 10 of their season-high 12 three-pointers in the first half.

Coach Kevin McMillan said the team “was out of sync and he takes full responsibility for that.”

He went on to say he wished UT Martin had looked like they did in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.”

UT Martin’s Anaya Brown led the Skyhawks in scoring for the 12th time this season, collecting 15 points while tying a team-high with six rebounds.    Kenley McCarn scored 12 points with six rebounds and three steals while Love Mays scored 10.

UT Martin finished the season with a 16-17 overall record.   The Holy Cross Crusaders will now face Iowa tomorrow night.
