JM Farms sued by Southern Migrant Legal Services

The Southern Migrant Legal Services has filed a federal lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Jackson on behalf of a South African migrant farm worker who had worked at JM Farms in Dresden.

The suit states in October of last year Odin Millard accepted a job with J-M Farms in Dresden which is operated by Joe and Amy Mitchell.

Millard complained that he was not paid properly for his work and alleges he was threatened verbally and physically when he mentioned he wanted to leave the job and that he would report them to authorities.

JM Farms owner Joe Mitchell said he had no comment other than “the truth will come out.”

Lawsuits filed in federal court only present one side.
