Martin Alderman Arrested for DUI

City of Martin Ward 2 Alderman Marvin Flatt is facing DUI and other charges after a traffic stop early Saturday morning in downtown Martin.

An affidavit states 71-year-old Flatt was stopped by police on North Lindell Street Saturday morning at 3:00 for having expired tags.

Upon contact with Mr. Flatt, authorities discovered his driver’s license had been revoked for DUI in November of 2024.

According to the affidavit, Mr. Flatt was asked to exit the vehicle and showed signs of intoxication while performing a sobriety test.

Flatt was taken into custody and incarcerated at the Weakley County Jail and charged with DUI and driving on a revoked license. He was arraigned by General Sessions Judge Tommy Moore and a bond of $2,000 was set with the condition to wear a trans-dermal alcohol monitor.

Mr. Flatt has served on the Martin Board of Alderman for nine years. He is currently in his third term.
