Saturday’s second annual “Battle of the Badges” fundraising softball game was again a big success.
The Union City Police Department faced the Union City Fire Department in a game played at Elam Stadium.
While the night of playing softball was fun for the players and those in attendance, the main focus was to benefit the annual Christmas holiday “Shop With a Cop” program.
Union City Police Chief Ben Yates told Thunderbolt News the event raised $4,321 to assist local children during the Christmas season.
“Shop With a Cop” allows local law enforcement and emergency personnel officials the opportunity to shop with needy children for clothing, shoes and other items during the holiday.
