With talks about saving money, the C.E Weldon building has been noted as an expense the City of Martin may no longer be able to afford.
Martin Mayor David Belote has been researching the buildings clean up and repair needs in order for the City to keep it as a beloved historical building.
He shared a possible solution with Martin’s Finance Board Thursday, for recurring drain stoppages on the building’s roof.
Because it is a historical building to Martin, the city has looked into a grant that could provide finances for repairs.
In order to be eligible to receive the grant, the city must have a clear purpose for the building.
As a first step, the city will begin cleanup of the inside of the building on April 1st.
Martin’s next finance meeting will be held, April 16th at 5:15 in the Martin Police Department training room. The public is encouraged to attend.
