The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the Ken-Tenn area.

Forecasters say actual temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90’s will create heat index values up to 111 degrees during the day.

The dangerous heat and humidity will significantly increase the chance of heat related illnesses.

Anyone who must be outdoors for an extended period of time is urged to drink plenty of fluids, wear light colored loose fitting clothing, and take periodic breaks in the shade or air conditioning.

Outdoor pet owners are also urged to provide plenty of fresh water, along with ample opportunities for shade.

The Extreme Heat Warning is in effect until 11:00 tonight.
