The Westview Lady Chargers headed to Jackson to face the Madison Academic Lady Mustangs a regular attendee in the TSSAA State Tournament, and Westview have faced several times the past few seasons in highly competitive matches.
The early morning offensive on-slaught by the Lady Chargers resulted in a one-sided affair, leaving the Hub City with a 10-1 victory.
Westview (4-0) scored quickly when defender Alyssa Williams found Maddie Horton for two goals just one minute apart in minutes 15 and 16. Two minutes later, Hayden Markowski found Chanler Spendlove to take a 3-0 lead midway through the first half. Sophomore Sophie Bolin scored the first of her three goals on another beautiful pass by Markowski, while Markowski scored one of her own to take a 7-0 halftime lead.
Madison mustered a score fifteen minutes into the second half, before Westview scored three unanswered to finish the match. Westview fired 36 shots with 18 of them being on frame.
The Lady Charger defense held Madison to only seven shots the entire game.
Senior Maddie Horton finished with four goals, Sophie Bolin netted three, Spendlove had two and Markowski had one. Markowski added three assists, Williams had two, with Horton and senior Carson Gibson with one.
Westview returns to action Thursday night, September 4th, against Crockett County.. First Touch is at 6:00 pm at the Martin Soccer Complex.
