Obion County Mayor Thanks Green Plains Obion and Welcomes POET to the County

Obion County’s ethanol plant is now under the ownership of the world’s largest producer of biofuel.

POET, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota recently purchased Green Plains Obion at a cost of $170-million dollars.

The purchase increased POET’s facility footprint to 35 plants, with an annual capacity of 3.1 billion gallons of biofuel.

Obion County Mayor Steve Carr praised the long partnership with Green Plains, and welcomed POET into the local business community.(AUDIO)

 

Mayor Carr said Obion County’s reputation in corn production, and strong labor force, will help continue the success at the Obion facility.(AUDIO)

 

Following the purchase, POET founder and CEO Jeff Broin said the facility would continue to create grain markets for local farmers.

Green Plains had an annual production capacity of 120 million gallons of bioethanol.
