The deadly UPS cargo plane crash in Kentucky was allegedly a matter of greed.
Channel 6 reports that according to two wrongful death lawsuits filed Wednesday, the company kept flying the aged aircraft without increasing maintenance beyond what’s regularly scheduled.
After a further investigation of last month’s crash where the MD-11’s wing detached mid flight, cracks where the engine connected to the wing, show the over 30 year old MD-11s, are too dangerous for companies to continue using.
The company is accused of keeping older planes in the air and not increasing the number of inspections in efforts to save money. The plane’s engine maker, GE, is also being sued.
The crash killed three pilots and 11 people on the ground November 4th near Muhammad Ali International Airport.
