Current Valid Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit Holders by County

If you’re thinking of buying a gun this holiday season, remember to update your handgun carry permit.

The Department of Safety and Homeland Security gave us the numbers for December of local, valid handgun carry permit holders.

In the nine county areas, Gibson County has the most with 5,633 valid handgun carry permit holders, next is Henry County with 3,669.

Then there’s Dyer County with 3,612, Carroll County with 3,218, Obion County with 3,155, Weakley County with 3,021, Stewart County is at 1,957, Crockett County at 1,664, and, with the least, Lake County, with 298.

While Tennessee is a constitutional carry state, so no permit is needed for eligible adults. However, permits provide legal protections, interstate recognition, and easier interactions with law enforcement, acting as proof of training.
