
Former Murray State and UT Martin basketball coach Cal Luther has being inducted into the Valparaiso University Athletic Hall of Fame.
Four individuals and three teams made up the 2026 Hall of Fame Class, which was inducted on Saturday as part of the All-Sports Reunion Weekend.
Luther was a basketball player during his time at Valparaiso, before his long and distinguished career as a collegiate basketball head coach.
He got his start as a head coach at DePauw, where he spent four seasons. His next stop was Murray State, where he won 241 games over 16 seasons, including three OVC regular season titles, and also spent 11 years as director of athletics.
Coach Luther went on to coach nine years at Longwood and nine seasons at UT Martin before closing his coaching career with one year at Bethel University.
During his career, he was a three-time OVC Coach of the Year.
Coach Luther is a member of the Murray State Hall of Fame, the UT Martin Hall of Fame and the OVC Hall of Fame.
He passed away in May of 2021 at the age of 93.
