Firefighters responded to a late-night house fire Saturday on Spence Chapel Road in Graves County where the fire spread to the home.
Clear Springs Fire Chief Dan Upton said flames had already spread into the home by the time firefighters arrived. Much of the structure was compromised before crews brought the fire under control.
Sixteen firefighters responded, with help from the Graves County Rescue Squad. Cause remains under investigation.
Fire fighters encourage residents not to overload outlets, keep an eye on heaters and make sure smoke detectors are working to help prevent residential fires.
