Madonna has released the song “I Feel So Free” from her forthcoming album ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor: Part II’ (aka “Confessions II”), arriving July 3rd.

The song’s release comes fresh off Madonna’s surprise appearance during Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining Coachella set on April 17.

As previously announced, Confessions II serves as a long-awaited follow-up to Madonnas’ 2005 hit album Confessions on a Dance Floor, marking her first full-length release in seven years (since 2019’s Madame X).  Madonna revealed the album alongside striking cover art featuring her posed atop purple speakers in coordinated lingerie, her face partially obscured by sheer pink fabric. The announcement follows her recent return to Warner Records, nearly 20 years after leaving the label—a reunion she previously described as a full-circle moment in her career.

The new project reunites Madonna with producer Stuart Price, who helped shape the sound of the original record, known for tracks like “Hung Up,” “Sorry,” and “Jump.” The album will be available across multiple formats, including vinyl, CD, and cassette. In announcing the project, Madonna emphasized the deeper meaning behind dance music, quoting lyrics from her upcoming song “One Step Away”: “People think that dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold: A ritualistic space where movement replaces language.”

She expanded on that idea in a statement, describing the creative vision she shared with Price: “We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect—with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people. Sound, light, and vibration/ Reshape our perceptions/ Pulling us into a trance-like state. The repetition of the bass, we don’t just hear it but we feel it. Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.”
